In an effort backed by pro-family groups, U.S. Sen. Eric Schmitt has introduced a for pregnant women.
Last week, the Missouri Republican joined two other GOP U.S. senators, Katie Britt of Alabama and Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, in composing the legislation.
Dubbed the āMore Opportunities for Moms to Succeed Actā (MOMS), the bill would create two grant programs āĀ one to support women through the pregnancy and newborn stages; and another to improve access to pre- and post-natal telehealth appointments in medically underserved areas.
The bill also includes Cramerās previous initiative that would give pregnant mothers the right to request child support from the father before the child is born.
