ST. LOUIS — The American Red Cross is offering financial assistance to tornado victims whose homes were destroyed or had major damage.
The organization, in a news release Tuesday, said the determination of whether a person qualifies would be made by Red Cross teams.
People interested in applying should go to to review information about qualifying and to fill out an online form. Those with questions about the process can call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767.
For those approved for the program, the Red Cross will send text messages and emails or call with instructions on how to access the financial aid.
The aid is in addition to the organization's delivery of meals and emergency supplies to local organizations to distribute and its four shelters.

Help from Ameren
Ameren Missouri said it will pause disconnecting service for nonpayment for 60 days in areas heavily impacted by storm damage. The pause extends through July.
The utility also said it would require no upfront deposits for new service through August for customers impacted by storm damage.
The company also will allow customers impacted by storm damage to use a special payment arrangement through August requiring only 20% down.
Ameren also is expanding funds available in three other aid programs and is donating $25,000 to Heat Up/Cool Down 51ºÚÁÏ to help storm victims pay their energy bills.
