EAST ST. LOUIS • Police this afternoon identified a worker killed Monday after getting caught in a conveyer belt at Swansea Building Products Corp. as Thomas Wallace, 31, of Collinsville.
Inspectors with the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration descended on the plant Monday after the fatal accident. Swansea Building Products Corp. is at 494 North 33rd Street in East 51ºÚÁÏ.
Detective Marion Riddle said Wallace died at the plant, but Riddle had no information on how Wallace got caught in the conveyer belt.
Karl Armstrong, a spokesman with OSHA's office in Fairview Heights, said the federal agency has six months to complete its investigation.
