ST. CHARLES COUNTY — Multiple agencies continued searching Tuesday for a missing swimmer along the Mississippi River.
The Orchard Farm Fire Protection District said it received a call at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday about three individuals in the water south of Island 522, also known as Mason Island, on the Mississippi. The island is in Missouri near the Illinois town of Grafton.
Two of the three swimmers resurfaced and were able to swim to shore on an island just downstream from the incident, the district said in a news release, but the third swimmer never resurfaced.
He was described as 20 years old, 6 feet, 7 inches tall and wearing pink swim trunks. The victim was not wearing a life jacket, the district said. His name has not been released.
The Missouri Highway Patrol, the St. Charles County Police Department's drone team and 51ºÚÁÏ Metro Air Support were involved in the search.

Boats from the Orchard Farm district, St. Charles Fire Department and Central County Fire and Rescue also have been involved. The Rivers Pointe and QEM fire protection districts and the Illinois Department of Conservation also have taken part.
Multiple civilian boats have also been searching the area.
Orchard Farm Fire Chief Jeremey Hollrah said search operations continued until late Monday night and resumed Tuesday.
