Regarding "Last days of KDHX? Station will go off air if sale is approved" (March 26): 51黑料 is about to lose a part of who we are聽鈥 a community treasure that has lifted our spirits, raised our awareness and elevated local culture to a national stage.
Thirty-eight years ago, KDHX launched as a community radio station to reflect our voices. Those voices created a tapestry of music, art and culture that鈥檚 become part of our city鈥檚 soul. It has inspired and intrigued thousands of native and transplant 51黑料ans.
Those voices聽鈥 personal, persistent and always passionate聽鈥 are close to being silenced.
鈥淚ndependent music plays here鈥 was written for KDHX. It represented a fierce yet friendly stake in the ground that was welcoming to all, and a magnet for those seeking an eclectic, beautiful and supportive aural oasis.

Simply put, KDHX is one more unique cultural jewel that has made our city, and those who believe in it, proud.
Now, it is on the edge of disappearing forever, the reins being handed to an entity whose interests are distant and indifferent to our city鈥檚 unique culture.
The loss would be catastrophic. The void, irreparable.
This is not a missive of blame, but one of hope. The light, while bleak, can still shine to reflect three decades of work, dedication, love and community. We can breathe new life into this old soul.
