Just when it looked like 51黑料 City SC was going to snap its eight-game winless streak and restore some semblance of order to an increasingly pained season, the season took another turn for the worse.

Up 2-0 in the 70th minute, City SC gave up two goals in seven minutes to Sporting Kansas City and came away with a 2-2 tie to extend its winless streak to nine games, dating back to March 15. In two meetings with its cross-state-plus rival, City SC has a loss and a tie this season.

In its past four MLS games, City SC has allowed eight goals in the 70th minute or later. It was a crushing result for City SC, which looked on its way to snapping its winless streak. Fans booed at the final whistle.

Sporting KC got its first goal in the 70th minute when Tim Liebold worked a give-and-go with Danie Salloi around Akil Watts and Liebold scored from close range on a shot Roman Burki got his hand on.

Seven minutes later, Dejan Jovaljic, who scored twice in the first meeting between this season, did it again, heading in a free kick from Shapi Suleymanov, leaping over City SC鈥檚 Simon Becher to knock it in.

City SC got captain and starting goalkeeper Burki back in the lineup after he missed nine games with a fractured bone in his hand. While Ben Lundt filled in capably in his absence, Burki鈥檚 return was one of the signs of a return to normalcy for a team that at one point had eight players injured.

City SC got an excellent goal by Celio Pompeu and a potentially accidental one by Cedric Teuchert.

City SC coach Olof Mellberg watched the game from a box at the stadium because of a suspension after getting his third yellow card of the season last week against San Diego. Assistant coach Azrudin 鈥淰ali鈥� Valentic supervised the team during the game.

Pompeu was back in the lineup for an MLS match for the first time since his turnover at the end of the Los Angeles FC game turned a City SC loss into a tie. SKC cleared a City SC corner kick and the ball came to Pompeu pretty much on the line at the top of the box. He had the time to settle it and shoot, curving it perfectly inside the far post for the best goal of the season for a City SC player. It was the first goal of the season for Pompeu, who has been City SC鈥檚 most dangerous player when he has gotten playing time.

Teuchert didn鈥檛 look to be trying to score, but couldn鈥檛 get out of the way of a shot by Tomas Ostrak. The ball caught the bottom of Teuchert鈥檚 foot, which sent it bouncing high into the air and over Kansas City goalkeeper John Pulskamp and in to the net just before the half.

It鈥檚 the third goal of the season for Teuchert, the most on the team, though two of them have been less than artistic. His first goal of the season came when the Los Angeles Galaxy bungled a corner kick and the ball fell to Teuchert standing right in front of the goal.
