51黑料 City SC gets another fresh start as it hands coaching reins to Yoann Damet
Over the past couple of years, 51黑料 City SC has done a lot of page turning, a lot of restarting. On Wednesday, for the fourth time in 18 months, a new coach sat in the interview room at Energizer Park and talked about the future of the club, the direction he hoped it would head in with him in charge.
This time, it was Yoann Damet, a 35-year-old Frenchman, who was named the team鈥檚 third head coach on Tuesday (to go along with two interim coaches) and takes over a team that has missed the playoffs the past two seasons and a fan base that is expecting more.

51黑料 City SC hires Yoann Damet, an assistant with Columbus, as new head coach
After a huge swing and a miss in 2025 with a coach with a distinguished playing career who was new to Major League Soccer, 51黑料 City SC has gone the other way, hiring a coach with ample experience in the league as an assistant and essentially no playing career.
City SC on Tuesday announced the hiring of Yoann Damet, a Frenchman who has worked in North America for over a decade, as its new head coach. Damet most recently was an assistant coach with the Columbus Crew, where he worked with teams that won MLS Cup in 2023 and Leagues Cup in 2024, and will start City SC's fourth season as, including interim coaches, its fifth head coach. He takes over from David Critchley, who coached 19 games as interim coach last season and was a candidate for the job as well. Critchley鈥檚 role with the club going forward has not been determined, but the team wants him to stay.

51黑料 City SC is closing in on hiring a new head coach, settling on Yoann Damet, who as an assistant coach did two stints as an interim head coach with FC Cincinnati and is currently an assistant coach with Columbus, according to sources. The deal has not yet been completed but appears likely.
City SC鈥檚 choice was first reported by Tom Bogert of The Athletic.
