The Show-Me state has given state legislators enough chances. Legislators have repeatedly shown us that they don’t respect majority rule and the outcome of referendums. Missouri is one of only 11 states without a law reigning in legislative power to overturn our votes. I’m tired of politicians’ abuse of that power.
Paid sick leave for workers was approved by 57% of voters last November, yet politicians overturned our vote. Similarly, the women’s access to health care initiative won 52% of the vote, but politicians are putting it back on the ballot in 2026 with misleading language that they hope will trick voters into voting against their original intent.
These abuses of legislative powers are a bipartisan problem that goes back at least four decades to the 1980s, when Democrats tried to overturn the vote for a law that limited their power to tax citizens. Republicans overturned the Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act in 2011, and when voters approved Clean Missouri in order to correct corruption and gerrymandering, the Legislature put the issue on the next ballot with confusing language so citizens overturned their own vote.
°Â±ðÌýcan regain our power and show legislators that we value majority rule by placing an amendment on the 2026 ballot to restrict legislators’ ability to overturn our vote and require clear, fair, and accurate ballot language. Check out  to join the fight.
