Regarding "Boeing says it will hire replacements for striking 51ºÚÁÏ workers" (Sept. 4): So Boeing is going to replace its skilled and striking workers. A non-union worker's knowledge and skill required for Boeing's products won't compete with an apprentice's learning, training and pride that the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers offer Boeing. Skilled trades are as American as apple pie in our country. Or at least they used to be.
Who's going to replace the union worker? Where will they come from — China, Russia, India, North Korea? Come on, America. It's time to get real and keep what belongs to us. Stand up for America's democracy, in which we are out to better ourselves and not elevate a circle of power.
It will be interesting to see the pension plans and health care arrangements these non-union newbies will get.
You just know President Donald Trump will get involved. After all, Boeing manufactures many of America's military defense aircraft and weapons. These union workers have dedicated their lives with pride and love for America. It will be interesting who the president will back.

Editor's note: Boeing and the union have reached a tentative agreement that union members will consider on Friday.
