Fedde starts Wednesday as the Cardinals try to continue reeling in the division-leading Chicago Cubs at 6:45 p.m. in the third of four at Busch Stadium.

Fedde's last win came May 9 in a complete game shutout at Washington, and it's almost as if he has needed to duplicate that level of near-perfection to earn a victory.

Fedde has a 3.13 ERA in that stretch, which leads all Cardinals starters since May 10.
Against his sinker, opponents are hitting .148 this month, down from .289 in April.
Fedde began his Cardinals tenure with a rough start at Wrigley Field vs. the Cubs, giving up five earned runs in five innings, his only appearance in the Cardinals-Cubs rivalry.
The Cubs will start聽left-hander Matthew Boyd (6-3, 2.84 ERA), who has been the team's most valuable starter by a wide margin. Boyd left his last start earlier after but suffering a bruised shoulder.
The Cardinals are 44-36, tied for second in the National League Central and 2 1/2 games behind Chicago.
The Cubs are 46-33 and have lost five of six.
Jordan Walker to IL with appendicitis, Jose Fermin up
Before the game, the Cardinals placed outfielder Jordan Walker on the 10-day injured list with appendicitis. The move is retroactive to Monday.
Jose Fermin was called up in his place.
The Cardinals also sent right-hander Michael McGreevy back to Triple-A after he started Tuesday and called up righty Matt Svanson.
